Kampong Glam....

One of my favorite places in Singapore is the Kampong Glam area - for various reasons - one being the fact that I used to live with my grandma around that area when I was a kid, the majestic Sultan Mosque is there as well as Arab St (FABRICS!!). There are also nice quaint places to sit down for teh tarik and munch on yummy curry puffs while watching the world go by.

In my last trip back to Singapore...of course I had to make a trip to Kg Glam. Here are some photos.

I love love love Arab St for all the fabric shops. This time round, I found a Chinese shop selling the most beautiful fabrics at great prices. The shopowner was so happy that a "young" person like me appreciates his fabrics that he offered to get me a drink so that I could sit down to chat with him....and on top of that, I got great discounts on his fabrics!

Haahhhhh...the places bring great memories. I still remember walking up and down Arab St with RG to look for fabrics, ribbons & baskets for our wedding decorations. That was almost 10 years ago.

As you can see.....Kampong Glam is still looking as quaint and pretty as I had left it many many years ago!

Marina Bay Sands

We decided to book a night's stay at MBS on Singapore's National Day just to experience the new hotel and its views. It was pricey....so it'd probably be our first and last time at MBS =P

We were a little disappointed that we didn't get a room that's facing the bay area where the NDP celebrations were held. Instead, we got a sea-facing room.....it was really nice with a fantastic view of the sea but we weren't able to see the fireworks from our room.

There were a lot of hiccups during our stay there.....but we were determined to enjoy ourselves and we did.

The hotel itself ain't fantastic but the views from the skypark and from the rooms are its main selling feature.

Enjoy the photos.....

We were able to catch the fireworks at the lift lobby......not as comfortable as if we were able to view from our room...but still amazing as the fireworks felt like they were exploding right in front of us.

We moved....

...AGAIN.

Despite all the hassle....we are very happy 'cos we found our dream house by the sea!

It's a much smaller house than what we had last year....but it's still a comfortable size with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.

The views from the house is what sold us. Absolutely spectacular views from this million dollar tiny home.

We feel like we could live here forever.....it's a house that we both dream of owning but cannot afford.

This little cottage was built in the 1980s. It's relatively new compared to the many other houses in this town. The appearance is more contemporary and much less New-Englandish (i.e. capes etc).

The below photo shows the front deck and living room area which faces the sea.
The living room is bright and airy with tall cathedral ceiling.
Here's the lovely view from the living room....and that's my favorite seat in the entire house!
Our cute master bedroom with sliders leading to the front deck.....
....here's the view that we wake up to every morning!
There are 2 bedrooms on the second floor of the house.....with twin beds....good for guests (so what are you waiting for?!)!

Here's the dining area....also with sliders that open up to the wrap-around deck for some lush greenery views of the front yard.
The kitchen is a little small but fully equipped....I just need to learn to cook/bake with less space.
The first floor bath.....with cute wallpaper.
The stairway with tall ceiling....
The deck goes all around the house....this is the side deck....
This is the main seafacing deck......where the grill and picnic table are located...great for some outdoor grill parties!
Then....there are the views of the water, marsh, boats and birds......love love love!!

Here we are....all smiles...enjoying our very first sunrise at our new home!
To be able to live by the sea.....that's what we moved to the cape for!!!
